What's in the box?
1" thick rigid vinyl security door mount frame with dog flap completely assembled
Cut a 6" x 10" inch hole into a piece of cardboard. If your dog can comfortably pass through than you buy a small pet door. If not, cut a 9" x 13" inch hole into a piece of cardboard. If your dog can comfortably pass through than you buy a medium dog door.
If your dog does not fit through either opening then install a large dog door. Our large dog door will accommodate labs and collies all day long. If you have a giant breed simply cut an 11" x 17" inch hole into cardboard and test to see if your dog passes through.
The large pet door itself is housed within two door lite frames that secure the dog door to your home door. The frame pieces come pre sealed with a good EBM tape to create a weather tight seal when the two frames are squeezed together.The door lite frame is engineered to fit all industry standard 1 ¾ flat panel or raised panel doors. The door lite frame is hand crafted by a company in Michigan who specialize in energy efficient door lite frames for homes.

We've had the petdoor installed for some months now. It took our Corgi a little week to get used to it, but now he runs in and out without trouble.
The door is all worth the money and there is no draught or anything to complain about :-) Our dog is happy and we feel good when he is home alone, because we know he can run freely in and out.

I always recommend FPP to folks for both their thermal and acoustical value.rnrnI installed a FPP door in a new insulated steel pre hung unit. Materials for this job (including the FPP door) ran about $700 and labor was $55...0 (includes pre-hung door install, FPP door install, and trim work not shown in this photo). The expected rate of return in energy savings (in this house a heat pump) is only TWO years. In other words the new entry door for this walk out basement and the new doggie door will pay for itself in only two years.rnrnNote that I used spray foam around the perimeter and shims, properly silicone the threshold, etc. The thermal loss thru this door is so insanely improved!

The door arrived yesterday. Faster than I expected, actually! I am quite impressed with the sturdiness of it and can certainly see how it will be a much more airtight door than I have ever used before. My labs are absolutely loving it!!!!

The company that makes this dog door was more than helpful when I originally had a problem with my old pet flap opening in strong winds. They were very interested in helping solve the problem. Now with the very strong winds the flaps stay closed. I have three dogs that can pass through without any difficulty. I would highly recommend this dog door. The door is energy efficient and very durable, believe me I know we have very active dogs that are in and out constantly. I have had other dog doors over the years this is by far the best one.
