Is your dog showing signs of boredom such as destructive behavior or over excited greetings when you come home? Are you sometimes to busy to give your buddy the attention and exercise outside that he craves? I know how you feel. Before installing an energy efficient dog door for my Labrador retriever, Dupree, I saw the signs of boredom behavior setting in. Then I was advised to create a stimulating environment that includes the following items; a dog door, rubber tire, and 8 feet of cable.
You will want to install a dog door into your door or wall so your buddy can go outside whenever he wants.
You can find a rubber chew toy and cable at any pet store. Tires, kongs, and nylabones work just fine. I am using a rubber tire that my lab will most likely destroy in less than a week.
Locate a tree limb in the back yard that provides enough height to suspend the chew toy.
Suspend the chew toy with the cable and watch your dog go crazy. You can adjust the height of the chew toy so your dog can jump up and down as shown in the video or as a tug like in the photos.
