What's better? Electronic pet door or traditional pet door?

Somebody asked me today what makes the Freedom Pet Pass pet door better than an electronic pet door. I thought that was a valid question and I was up for the debate. First, I want to make mention that our energy efficient pet door isn't right for everyone. Check out the website to learn about the benefits of our energy efficient pet doors. Your pet door application may not require a pet flap with the best seal. If you just need a pet flap that doesn't seal well then by all means shop the competition and buy based on price. You may need a pet door that is chew proof. Some dogs will chew through anything and everything. No problem, buy a beefy metal pet door that is close to indestructible and makes a ton of noise when in use, again offering little value energy wise. No pet door will be perfect for everyone and every dog.

My dog is afraid of the dog door and I don't know how to train him.

Some dogs are a little timid or anxious about the idea of using a dog door. It may seem at first as though your dog will never catch on to the idea of using a dog door. Don't panic yet. Training the timid or anxious dog does take a lot more time and patience, but if you stick to it, don't rush him, and above all don't frighten or scold him, even this dog can learn to use his dog door. If your dog is afraid of your new dog door try this method to train him.

How do I train my dog to use my doggie door?

Training your dog to use a doggie door is simple. The most common method of training a dog to use a doggie door is really just a matter of showing the dog the dog door, then putting yourself on one side of the dog door and your dog on the other and enticing him through by calling him or holding a treat.

Recently I adopted a beautiful Labrador retriever mix from an organization called H.A.T.S. His name is Dupree and he is a great puppy, most of the time. Lately my dog has been chewing my walls and I think I need a dog door.

Mischievous dogs will chew up anything. I know first hand because my yellow lab puppy who we call Dupree chewed up my wall this afternoon while I was out. For dessert he chewed on some wires leading into the gas water heater! Now my dog keeps chewing up my dog door flap
