FLAP ADJUSTMENT FOR SMALL OR WEAK ANIMALS
If your pet is having trouble pushing the flap open, you can make it easier by reducing the magnetic energy. While the seal will still be air-tight, wind resistance and threshold to indoor air pressure will be lower.
To do this, make the following adjustments:
Find the four #2 Phillips-head screws at the top of the flap system on the inside side of the door.*
Loosen the two outside screws – four complete (360°C) turns each.
Move to the other (outside) side of the door.
Grasp the black magnetic flap – a U-shaped, three-sided piece, held in place by the two outer screws. Slowly pull down on one side of the black flap – very firmly – until it releases from underneath the screw. Repeat for the other side of the black flap.
Re-insert the black flap so that it is about 1/16-1/8 inch lower than before. This lower positioning offsets, and thereby reduces, the magnetic pairing between the bottom of the black flap and frame. Test the beige flap door for ease of opening. Continue to adjust the vertical position of the black flap until the magnetic strength feels right for your pet.
Return to the inside side of the door and re-tighten the two outer screws.
Press the white screw-head caps in place.
* If you have already snapped the white screw-head caps in place, then they will have to be removed.
With pet flap replacement costs and loss of energy, other cat doors can keep costing over time.
All Freedom Pet Pass brand pet doors have

I've been to all the local big-box pet stores and home depot to see their offerings, and what's out there is so crummy either in construction, or it's ability to weather seal, that you wonder if the manufacturer gave it much thought at all.rnrnTimes are a changing, and with heating prices fluxuating, and the renewed interest in "Green" living, manufacturers had better raise to current consumer demands. This cat door on the other hand, clearly had two objectives in mind, bullet-proof construction, with real draft stopping ability. rnrnThe design and engineering fits in the family of high end, tight design, the kind of design that makes you think of BMWs, or other precision engineering. This door has it's roots in function rather than form, but when function is done well, beautiful form will follow.

I have the cat door going to the garage where the litter box is. I live in Texas and in the summers it gets well over 100 degrees and the freedom pet pass door does not allow the heat so seep into my house. The sun sets on the garage and when I pull the two vehicles in with their hot engines that garage has to be over 130 degrees. Anyways, I am very satisfied with the product, especially the adjustable door for the cat to be trained. It didnt take but 5 minutes, I just jingled the cats favorite toy and he pawed his way into the garage. I kept some cat food in there so he would get a treat everytime he came out. Then after he went to the bathroom he would go back inside. After two weeks of this I adjusted the screws to the proper setting for best efficiency. Two weeks after that I removed his extra food in the garage.
"I just wanted to let you know that your weather proof pet door withstood the wrath of hurricane Irene. That flap didn't move at all. My canopy on the back porch was bent like a toothpick so the winds...
