How to adjust flap pressure

FLAP ADJUSTMENT FOR SMALL OR WEAK ANIMALS

If your pet is having trouble pushing the flap open, you can make it easier by reducing the magnetic energy. While the seal will still be air-tight, wind resistance and threshold to indoor air pressure will be lower.

To do this, make the following adjustments:

  • Find the four #2 Phillips-head screws at the top of the flap system on the inside side of the door.*
  • Loosen the two outside screws – four complete (360°C) turns each.
  • Move to the other (outside) side of the door.
  • Grasp the black magnetic flap – a U-shaped, three-sided piece, held in place by the two outer screws. Slowly pull down on one side of the black flap – very firmly – until it releases from underneath the screw. Repeat for the other side of the black flap.
  • Re-insert the black flap so that it is about 1/16-1/8 inch lower than before. This lower positioning offsets, and thereby reduces, the magnetic pairing between the bottom of the black flap and frame. Test the beige flap door for ease of opening. Continue to adjust the vertical position of the black flap until the magnetic strength feels right for your pet.
  • Return to the inside side of the door and re-tighten the two outer screws.
  • Press the white screw-head caps in place.

* If you have already snapped the white screw-head caps in place, then they will have to be removed.

Wow!! What a cool invention. gotta see it to beleive it. when I got the door I just played with it because how it works is so intriguing. So simple yet so brilliant. It actually seals better than the door I put it in.rnrnMy old kat flap leaked so bad that I kept a box in front of it to keep it sealed and removed the box to let my cat out...lol..kinda defeats the purpose. I thought my kitty would have a hard time adjusting to the tan flap but she learned how to use it quickly.

For over four years now my wife and I have enjoyed a Freedom Pet Pass which we installed into our entry door from our garage to our house. This energy efficient, non drafty passage from our house to the outside world has been a great comfort for me. My cats were driving me nuts. Every night they would torment me until I would wake up, get out of bed, and walk like a zombie to the entry door to let them out. I would encourage anyone who is losing sleep over thier pets to consider investing in a freedom pet pass. The fact that our cats have used this door constantly for four years and the door works and seals as good as the day we installed it, shows that it is very durable and well designed. Every year the owner of the company calls to see how my cat door is holding up because I was one of the first to purchase a cat door. I am glad he has this new testimony feature so I can tell everyone what a great product this is. - Jay Weaver
